Assura Pharmacies in the UK launches GastroView
Assura Pharmacy is the first pharmacy chain in the UK to offer customers GastroView – the 3 in 1 indigestion test, a unique new screening test available in store. Biohit’s GastroView offers a “window” on the health of the stomach obtained from a simple finger prick blood sample.
The test not only checks for the presence of H.pylori (Helicobacter pylori), but also examines the extent of any damage caused to the stomach lining by the presence of the bacterium or from other causes. GastroView examination includes measurements of Pepsinogen I, Pepsinogen II and H.pylori IgA/IgG antibodies.
This test is the first time it’s been possible to investigate the level of damage to the stomach lining at pharmacies in the UK without the need for an invasive procedure such as a gastroscopy. Once the customer has bought the kit, they make an appointment with the pharmacist to collect the blood sample from a simple finger prick. The sample is sent to the Biohit laboratory for extensive analysis and a comprehensive results report is then sent to the patient, with recommendations for treatment, if appropriate. The patient can then, if necessary, share the results with their GP or Pharmacist for further advice.
GastroView, which is developed and patented by Biohit, is now available as "The 3 in 1 indigestion test" in the Assura Pharmacies throughout the UK. http://www.assurapharmacy.co.uk/
